Workshop on Applied Security 2025 (WAS 2025)
The aim of the workshop is to create an opportunity for researchers and their students in the wide and complex field of computer systems security to come together and discuss current topics and trends in a welcoming environment. This workshop is part of the ITAT conference, which takes place in hotel Hotel Telgárt, Nízké Tatry, Slovakia from September 26th to September 30th. The specific date for the workshop itself will be announced.
The workshop will consist of regular papers track, and a track dedicated to overview and work-in-progress extended abstracts. It will serve as a platform for presenting contributions primarily focused on, though not restricted to:
- Theoretical and applied cryptography
- Operating systems and programming systems security
- Security of hardware devices
- Network security and protocols
- Web applications security
- Intrusion detection and prevention systems
- Malware analysis and detection techniques
- Privacy-enhancing technologies
- Secure software development methodologies
- Cyber-physical systems security
- Cloud computing security
- Mobile and IoT device security
- Machine learning threats, attacks, and risks
- Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Security
- Digital Forensics and Incident Response
as well as other practical aspects of computer security in general. We also welcome practical demonstrations of attacks and/or protective measures, alongside tutorials on relevant topics.
Regular Papers
A regular paper presents original and innovative scientific results of the authors.
- Paper should be written in English, and it must present new results not published elsewhere.
- If you cross-submit your paper to multiple conferences/journals and it gets accepted and published elsewhere, you must withdraw it from WAS before submitting the camera-ready version at the latest.
- Each paper will be anonymously reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. All reviewers are affiliated with a different department (institution at the third level) from that of any of the paper’s authors.
- The final version of a paper should comprise 5 to 15 pages including references, in two columns latex style.
- The papers will be submitted through EasyChair.
- For accepted papers to be published in the proceedings of ITAT (CEUR proceedings, indexed in Scopus), at least one author must present the submission at the workshop as a registered participant.
Overview and Work-In-Progress Extended Abstracts
Extended abstract summarizing authors' research from a higher level of perspective or work-in-progress with preliminary results (even negative ones) are welcomed for this separate track.
- Extended abstract should be written in English, and can either:
- present new results not published elsewhere, or
- inform about work-in-progress of authors' ongoing research, or
- needs not to include novel content but can provide a topic overview. However, it must properly cite previous publications that describe the work presented in the extended abstract.
- At the time of submission, the extended abstract should not be under review at any other conference or by a scientific journal. Submission of an extended version (like full paper) to a journal after the submission deadline is allowed.
- Each extended abstract will be anonymously reviewed by at least two independent reviewers. All reviewers are affiliated with a different department (institution at the third level) from that of any of the abstract's authors.
- The final version of an extended abstract must be between 2 to 4 pages long, formatted using latex template provided on the conference web page (the same as for regular papers). Page limit for extended abstracts is strictly enforced, but the bibliography is excluded from the limit.
- The extended abstracts will be submitted through EasyChair.
- For an accepted extended abstracts to be published, at least one author must present the submission at the workshop as a registered participant.
- Accepted extended abstract will not be included in the proceedings of ITAT (CEUR proceedings, indexed in Scopus), but in a separate volume with ISBN accessible from the web.
